Community is the Future of Business

ADM members enjoy stories from great Communities

Expectations from our members were set high for this interesting session on online communities, but they were not left wanting. Frank Haes (SAPience), Steven Ingelbrecht (Waze) and Jan-Bart Cassimon (Pokémon Go) took the time to share the amazing stories of their Communities

As is tradition, our programme manager is the first to take the stage during our sessions. Using the help of our online tool, Sli.Do, Mic Adam (CEO, Vanguard Leadership) told us a bit more on communities and community managers, setting the scene for our speakers of the evening.

First up was the SAPience case by Frank Haes (Head of CIO office, Agfa). The Belgian SAP user group is one of the largest business communities in Belgium. During his presentation, Frank told us the story on the successes and struggles in keeping the business community interesting for its members. If you'd like to learn more on the presentation by Frank Haes then be sure to take a look at his presentation under the Related tab (available for members only after login).

Waze is a navigation app that can be used on smartphones & tablets. To present this second case there were no slides and prepared speeches. Instead our programme manager, Mic, held a Q&A with Steven Ingelbrecht, Global Champ for Waze. During the interview Steven shared insights on how he helped the Waze Belgium group grow into a community with over 100 000 users and 1500 active members while working with very limited resources.

Last but not least was Jan-Bart Cassimon (Community Manager, Pokémon Go) who took to the stage to tell us a bit more on how he and a few friends started the biggest online Pokémon Go community in Belgium. Since the start of this community in July 2016, the number of followers on Facebook exploded and currently has over 27 000 likes on Facebook. Managing this page and organizing events (e.g. the Pokémon hunt in the Antwerp Zoo) without getting any support from Niantic (the company that developed Pokémon Go) was a challenge but they managed to turn the Belgian Pokémon Go community into a success none the less! If you'd like to learn more on the presentation by Jan-Bart, head over to the Related tab to download it there.
