I can honestly say that ADM taught us how to network

Networking means overcoming certain barriers. Through ADM we learned how useful it can be to meet people. Some of them can be very helpful, while others can learn a thing or two from you. I can honestly say that ADM taught us how to network.

As Human Interface Group, we aim to make information technology more user-friendly and more accessible. We consider it our task to make people aware of the importance of such issues. We’re able to emphasise this softer side of IT during ADM activities, without necessarily coming across as commercially focused.

ADM makes it very clear what networking should be all about. Too often, people go to such network events purely out of self-interest. ADM appears to transcend this. For example, the annual reception really is a moment when you can meet everyone involved with ADM in an informal atmosphere.

You also learn to approach certain issues from new perspectives. Personally, I think the foyers are to be highly recommended. You often hear good speakers there, people with the tendency to engross an audience and attract people with very different areas of specialisation. That makes for very interesting occasions for networking after the presentation. I hope that ADM will ensure its present charm will be preserved as it grows even more in years to come.
