How it started
The idea
On 3 June 1998 'Antwerp Digital Mainport' was born. Its nine founding fathers: the Antwerp Chamber of Commerce, Agfa-Gevaert, Ahlers, EDS, McKinsey & Company, Real Software, Telenet, Uitgeversbedrijf Tijd and Xylos wanted to set up a forum for knowledge exchange and consultation about ICT. The idea was proposed after a visit to the Information Technology Center in New York.
A new name
By 2005 these founding nine had gathered numerous partners and new members from all over Belgium. So the Board of Directors decided to change the name of the organisation to ADM, where the A is a reminder of the place where it all started.
ADM today
Over the years ADM has evolved into a mature organisation. It is a well-respected platform within the ICT and business community that offers knowledge exchange, activities and networking opportunities to a broad professional audience. Today ADM has over 150 members and most of the nine founding fathers are still partners. Many others have offered their support to the initiative and nowadays ADM has over 20 partners.
